AFC offers meaningful opportunities for committed citizens to make a personal, positive impact in the lives of foster children. No matter your availability, there is a place for you to serve.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. More than 400 dedicated community members operate our two Visitation Centers and serve as tutors and mentors, creating stability and connection for children and families navigating foster care.

TUTOR/MENTOR PROGRAM

Mentee age range: Grades K-12
Time commitment: 8hr/month for one (1) year minimum
Description: Help with homework, build social & life skills, provide an element of stability, and enhance a child’s self-esteem by developing a long-term personal relationship.
Requirements: Age 21 or older, H.S. diploma or equivalent, background check, attend interview/orientation, and have the willingness to build a relationship with a foster child.

VISITATION CENTER OPPORTUNITIES

Hosting Program

Time commitment: Flexible opportunities available
Description: We are looking for the best hosts to bring positive energy and smiles to the Visitation Centers! Our hosts welcome our guests, manage onsite resources, ensure the centers are sanitized and safe, and check folks in and out. This is a great fit for anyone who enjoys interacting with children, parents, and community partners, works well in teams, has a positive attitude and shows initiative.
Requirements: Age 18+ preferred, background check, able to work independently, and have a non judgmental attitude. Minimal paperwork required.
