AFC offers various levels of support for our community! Our mentor program exists to provide children in foster care with a consistent and stable role model in their lives. Our visitation centers support families who require a safe and comfortable space to have visits. Please read below to learn more about starting these services or volunteering with us!

TUTOR/MENTOR PROGRAM

Arizonans for Children matches kids (aged 5-18 who are in state care within Maricopa County) with a volunteer mentor from our community. We place qualified, background checked mentors with a child for a period of at least one year. Mentors work on a variety of projects with their mentee during their time together, depending on the needs of the child.

VISITATION CENTERS

Our two Visitation Centers provide a safe, homelike environment for parents to visit with their children. This may occur as a result of foster care placement or due to a family court case related to custody/parenting time. Families visiting in our Visitation Centers have access to a playground, dining areas, toys, air hockey, books, snacks, activities and more!

Foster Care Visits

A key part of helping Arizona children who have been removed from their homes is helping them maintain contact with their siblings and parents. Our visitation centers provide safe and comfortable spaces for these visits to take place.

Custodial/Family Court Visits

The Children’s Visitation Centers provide an opportunity for children and non-custodial parents to have safe, scheduled contact in a conflict-free environment. During the supervised visits, our qualified staff will observe and assess family interactions and needs. We will provide detailed observation reports of each visit. It is our aim to help enable an ongoing relationship between the child and non-custodial parent.
